LADYFEST*EAST FILM FEST 2001

Over 30 films made by women filmmakers will be shown during the weekend of September 7-9th,
at
NYC's Anthology Film Archives.

AFA is going to allow Ladyfest*East Film Fest to screen the films
mentioned below in the upstairs "Courthouse Theater" which seats 200.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Feminist sci-fi adventure Born in Flames (Lizzie Borden), the story of ladies taking over NYC
  • Award winning documentary Live Nude Girls Unite! (Julia Query and Vicki Funari), about sex workers in 'Frisco fighting the power by unionizing
  • Grrly Show (Kara Herold), inspiring stories of ladies who started their own 'zines
  • War Zone (Maggie Hadleigh-West), which documents street harassment and it's ugly results
  • Rockumentary Kiss My Gritz-The Herstory of Women in Punk and Hard Rock (Bethany Ward-Lowe), which includes interviews from Sleater-Kinney and many others

Kara Herold is a media maker living in San Francisco. Her films include La Signora di Tutti, Women for Sale and Grrlyshow. Kara is currently applying for grants for her new film about being single, an needed alternative to the Bridget Jones Diary.
